On Good Friday at half time of their match with Braintree, Maidstone United’s Pebbles team presented Heart of Kent Hospice with a cheque for £2,000. All the football clubs that competed in the Emirates FA Cup from the first round proper onwards received funds from the Football Association, which were generated by the proceeds from the FA Community Shield match between Chelsea and Manchester City. Club chief executive Bill Williams said: “We were delighted to present a cheque for £2,000 to Heart of Kent Hospice on behalf of the Football Association. It’s great that local charities across the country are able to benefit from the FA Community Shield fund to support their work.” The Hospice relies on the generosity of its loyal supporters to raise £4 out of every £5 it spends caring for terminally ill patients and their families from Maidstone and surrounding villages.

Claire Whybrew, Corporate Partnerships Manager said, “We are so grateful to the Football Association and Maidstone United for their support, and are looking forward to working together as charity partners for 2019/20.”
